About

A one-engineer studio, on purpose

UpgradeTechno is Vishal, working in Chennai, building production AI systems for businesses that the larger firms will not quote.

Who is doing the work

I am Vishal. I have spent five years as a full-stack engineer — React, Next.js and TypeScript on the front, Node.js, Python and FastAPI behind it, PostgreSQL and MongoDB underneath — and the last stretch of that building retrieval and agent systems that had to survive contact with real users rather than a demo audience.

When you hire UpgradeTechno, I am the person writing the code. There is no account manager between us and no junior team the work quietly gets handed to. That is the whole reason a small engagement is viable here: there is no bench to pay for.

Why Chennai

Because I am from here and I work here, and because being in the same time zone as a client — often in the same city — changes how a project goes. Discovery is a morning at your front desk, not a video call with a shared document. When something breaks at nine in the morning, I am awake.

Chennai also has an unusual density of the exact businesses this is built for: multi-doctor clinics, diagnostic chains, and labs running serious volume on a front desk of two or three people and a phone that never stops ringing.

Why this narrow

A studio of one cannot be good at everything, and pretending otherwise is how small shops end up delivering mediocre work slowly. So there is one productised offer, aimed at one kind of business, with a scope written down and a price fixed in advance.

The narrowness is what makes the ten days possible. Every clinic is different in its documents and its calendar, and almost identical in the shape of the problem: the same forty questions, asked several hundred times a day, by people who would rather message than wait on hold.

Outside that, I still take full-stack product work — dashboards, internal tools, APIs — usually for clients who came for the AI piece and needed the software around it built properly too.

How I work

Fixed scope and fixed price, agreed before anything starts. Code in your GitHub organisation from the first commit. A staging link from day three so you can watch the thing improve instead of waiting for a reveal. An evaluation set built from your real messages, so "is it good enough" is a number we both look at rather than an argument.

And if I think a project is a bad idea, or that you would be better served by an off-the-shelf tool costing a fraction of what I would charge, I will say so on the first call. Losing a project is cheaper than delivering one nobody wanted.

Fifteen minutes, no deck

Tell me what your front desk repeats all day and I will tell you whether this is worth building.
